International insect fair of Lyon
Main Presentation
The
fair takes place every year at the end of march in Lyon during the
"Salon International de l’Insecte et de l’araignée". This exhibition,
during which you can buy, exchange, sell, take photos or just visit, is
organised since 1985. So in 2008 it will be the 23th "salon
International de l’Insecte et de l’araignée".
This exhibition which actually takes place for 3 days (from friday to
sunday), can be split into 2 main periods:
On
friday the exhibition is only open to pupils coming from Lyon (this day
make PAPILLYON exhibition unique of its kind). Every year about 500
pupils come to listen to a score of contributors about various subjects
on insects and arachnids. Every year the members of the Association
PAPILLYON-ADE choose a subject and display it in a thematic stand.
On
saturday and sunday takes place "le salon international" itself. The
exhibition gather about seventy exhibitors coming all over Europe and
sometimes further who expose on about 200 meters of
tables the amount of their insects hunting or breeding. The connoisseur
who wait forward every year for the exhibition meet to chat about their
last experiences: travelling, studying or breeding stories.
People
can get information on each stand about the origin, the behaviour, the
breeding or the conservation of the exhibited bugs. Breeders always
have succes disabusing our prejudice against insects they love. Inside
the exhibition you will be able to find an
educationnal gallery
about some precise aspects of insects world with pleasant and clear
explainations illustrated with collections samples.
You will also be able to find a snak bar on the exhibition.
Every
year, counting pupils and other free visitors, about 3 000 visitors are
coming to the fair. This international exhibition is organised by an
"association loi 1901" which does not take any advantage of the money
collected. The money is used to cover the expenses of the organization
of the exhibition.
